Moon Moon | Chapter 01 : The River Queen

This session begins with the Mokolé character maintaining the focus of the evening. Background for her!! She was born a Nile Crocodile, with a cult raising her. Her father was a proper Mokolé as well, though he (and several other Mokolé) fell to the Wyrm and took a huge chunk of the cult with them. What remained took the River Queen (I'll come back later when I get her name, I forgot already HER NAME IS ABIDA. I STILL HAVE NO IDEA IF I SPELLED THAT APPROPRIATELY. STAY TUNED FOR NEXT POST.) to Florida to try and recoup. They raised her for a time until her first change, worshipping her as a god all the while and calling her the wife of Sobek. She then began her process of reaching deep into Mnesis (of which she has the maximum amount one can take - this game is all about the high stakes and the most important figures of the apocalypse) and of course, her duty to attempt reproduction. No joke, the GM rolled every single pregnancy and she got three Mokolé out of only a handful of pregnancies (mixed between human and clutch offspring). Weirdness. As she got closer and closer to solving some of the mysteries of the Mnesis, her father found where she and her cult were hiding.

Which, of course, is where Moon Moon came in. A small bird spirit (guarding over the wallow that the River Queen held) came to Moon Moon and announced that there were Wyrm-tainted beasts to fight, and Moon Moon and Ray both sped towards the impending fight. As we arrived, the River Queen (a lonely Mokolé as her children had not yet turned) was facing against her father and two other Mokolé - they began to turn to their Archid forms, and as the shape of something strongly resembling a Tyrannosaurus Rex crested over the trees of the Everglades, Moon Moon (much more swiftly) shifted into Crinos and launched herself at the threat, eager for a fight and to channel her rage and properly fulfill her duty to Gaia. But mostly vent the pent up rage.

Wyrm-tainted, the three Mokolé were all sickly and rotted and festering-looking, easy enough for even Moon Moon to identify (thank god for a success on that roll). Though the dinosaur being stood so tall above her, she leaped up as though she weighed nothing and gouged her claws deep into the beast's chest and throat, sending it immediately into a frenzy for fear of its life. It fled, and Moon Moon then turned her second attack towards another one - one that resembled a Western Dragon. It was all a little like this. The dragon had begun to fly up, and was swooping down - Moon Moon jumped to tackle it in the air. It bellowed flame upon her, but she burst through the plume and grabbed at the dragon... ... ...only to miss, of course, thanks to a complete lack of depth perception. (Oh, poor wall-eyed baby...)

Still, it attempted to attack the Kinfolk, and as such the River Queen abandoned her fight with her father (even though her might and roar had truthfully intimidated the older Mokolé into considering retreat). The great crocodile that was the River Queen stood between the dragon and her family, striking at it. Moon Moon also launched herself at it, clawing at its armored hide until she was shaken off and the dragon attempted retreat, noticing that the leader had also turned to flee. The River Queen would have absolutely none of this, and picked up a fallen log, tossing it and knocking the dragon out of the air in a single, precise, mighty blow. Moon Moon raced to find the unconscious Mokolé and dragged him out of the water by his leg. She turned to Ray and the River Queen to see what to do next with him, and they decided to interrogate.

Moon Moon hovered over the homid-form Mokolé, panting tiredly (and from the heat, though the burns scalding her chest certainly didn't help the feeling of overheating - she took 3 aggro damage but it was the only damage she had taken in the fight) as the River Queen and Ray considered what to do. Aside from a couple offers to simply kill him, they dismissed it since he would have been happy to die. Moon Moon then offered something else; "I can grab his bone, then break it, and hold it still. Hold it so it fixes wrong. Father taught me to do that if Garou ever try to harm me," she said, all too pleased with herself. Ray was intimidated, a bit (conceivably thankful that Moon Moon admitted freely to being friends with him) and the River Queen accepted that as a good punishment as she decided what to do to free this Mokolé from his Wyrm tainted existence.

She decided to bring all of them into Mnesis. With a set of artifacts absolutely precious to the Mokolé - a set of canopic jars meant for this one ritual - she brought Moon Moon, Ray, and the dragon ("Shadow from the Sky", he says he was named) into the ancestral memory. She showed Shadow from the Sky the other ancient Mokolé, the great riverbank of time where they all rested, and she even brought him to the edge of the Wonderwork (the extinction event for all dinosaurs) to show him what the Wyrm wrought... and to prove that even when it brings that devastation, the Mokolé survived. That is what the Mokolé DO. As long as one lives in balance and survives the apocalypse to remember, they will live on properly. And finally, Shadow from the Sky met the memory of his former self, before he fell to the Wyrm. His old self scorned the true self, scoffing in disgust that he would have rather died than turned into what he did. At least a death while in balance would be befitting of him, rather than living as a diseased creature. The River Queen implored the true Shadow from the Sky to reconsider his relationship to the Wyrm... and he accepted.

Leaving the Mnesis, Ray said that he knew the ritual for purification needed to strip the Wyrm out of Shadow from the Sky. But they would need to find a Purity Caern - the only one he knew of was in Boulder, Colorado and was guarded by the Garou. Moon Moon, with absolute certainty, said that she would tell the Garou to help. Ray and the River Queen, on the other hand, doubted how well that would go for anyone. Ray said that he had to return to his home (he had a ban, and needed to gather supplies) and that he would help the River Queen move her kin, telling them to meet with a Mage to receive the proper assistance. Though she did not know what a Mage was, Moon Moon wholeheartedly accepted that if Ray liked this woman, she would be friends with her as well.

Moon Moon did not purchase stats yet. She gained points in all of her Renown sections, but not enough to receive a new dot.
